DENVER – Colorado home furnishings retailer HW Home is starting a new chapter with a larger flagship showroom that gives the company 50% more space to showcase its assortment.

The locally owned retailer has opened a 10,000-square-foot store at 9th+CO, a 26-acre mixed-use development here. The location replaces HW Home’s longtime flagship store at Clayton Lane in the city’s Cherry Creek North neighborhood.

The additional space allows HW Home to expand its furniture and home décor presentation, including a broader fabric program.

“We didn’t want this next era of design-driven living to just be a sea of furniture,” said Ron Werner, owner and co-founder of HW Home. “We designed the showroom to feel more like a movie set, with a series of flowing vignettes.”

The new store also incorporates elements from HW Home’s previous flagship, including reclaimed maple flooring and a recreation of the onyx wall that had become a signature feature of the Clayton Lane location.

“With this amount of space, we’ve been able to expand our selection significantly,” Werner said. “We have the best fabric setup we’ve ever had with more than 3,500 fabric options. And we’ve been ordering new merchandise since March so that not only are our customers in a brand-new store, but they are seeing brand new pieces.”

Werner and Jim Hering founded HW Home in 1999, opening the company’s first store on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colo. The retailer expanded into Denver in 2004 with its Clayton Lane opening.

HW Home has built its merchandising strategy around an eclectic assortment of home furnishings sourced from around the world, including one-of-a-kind pieces, custom-order collections and in-stock merchandise.

The retailer also plans to use the larger showroom as an event and community space, working with other locally owned businesses at 9th+Co.

“We want our new flagship showroom to become a hub for design, community, local partnerships, and experiential events,” Hering said. “Those elements really reflect the spirit of 9th+CO and demonstrate our commitment to supporting Denver’s creative and entrepreneurial community.”

Grand-opening activities are scheduled for Sept. 24-26, culminating in a public celebration Sept. 26 featuring local pop-ups, refreshments, live music and in-store experiences.

HW Home will follow the opening with The Fall Edit , a collaborative fashion and design event with several Denver businesses, Oct. 1. The retailer said the concept is expected to become a recurring event with fall and spring editions.

HW Home is serving as an anchor tenant in the development, owned by Continuum Partners.
