Portmeirion Acquires U.K. Candle Company

Lighthouse owns Wax Lyrical, which manufactures scented candles, reed diffusers and home fragrances and exports to more than 40 countries. Last year Lighthouse posted $15.8 million in revenue, a pre-tax profit of $2.4 million and net assets of $8.7 million, Portmeirion said.

The acquisition provides both companies with a wider product offering and access to a larger customer base. In a statement, Portmeirion said Wax Lyrical’s high quality brands and “Made in Britain” pedigree are a strong strategic fit for Portmeirion Group. Joanne Barber, managing director of Wax Lyrical, will continue to run the business from its existing facilities following the acquisition.
