The New Scandi Color Trends You’ll Be Seeing Everywhere Soon

2025.07.10

One of the biggest takeaways from this year's 3 Days of Design festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, was that it's time to embrace color (if you haven't already). While paint is one of the easiest outlets for many people experimenting with new tonal tendencies, the fair also included options in tile and hardware that architects and designers may start employing right away. Here are the top three new Scandinavian color trends we spotted in Copenhagen.

Designer Art Tiles

Tiles from the new collection from Blēo and Muller Van Severen.

Danish color and surface brand Blēo released its first handmade tile collection in collaboration with the acclaimed Belgian design duo Muller Van Severen. Featuring 12 distinct colors all produced using traditional methods in Morocco, each tile is hand-cut and hand-glazed, resulting in deliberately imperfect pieces that reflect their craftsmanship and individuality. The installation during 3 Days of Design felt Mediterranean in its execution as much as its intent, evoking an outdoor shower in Sardinia rather than the busy Danish street beyond the door.

Blēo will launch in the United States this summer, making its full range of paints and surfaces available to architects, designers, and private clients across North America. All of their products will be produced locally in the US, while maintaining the exact same color formulations and quality as in Europe.

Sculptural Striped Hardware

Levers, pulls and knobs from The Streaks Collection by Bankston and YSG Studio.

Australian hardware brand Bankston introduced the Streaks Collection, a new line of sculptural hardware crafted in collaboration with designer Yasmine Ghoniem, director of Sydney-based YSG Studio. The 10-piece ensemble of door levers, pulls, and knobs features stratified banding in contrasting tones, all crafted from FSC-certified, sustainably sourced timber and handmade in Australia.

While it looks as though the pieces are dyed or stained, they're actually made from timber pairings in a range of tonal intensities: American White Ash with Australian Blackbutt; American Walnut with Australian Red Cedar; and New Zealand Purpleheart with African Padauk. There are also several pieces cast in bronze. While unadulterated, the color combinations have an idiosyncrasy that’s reflected in their naming, from the “Kooky Streaker Lever” to the “Closet Streaker Cabinet Pull.” If you didn't love stripes before, you will now.

Paint For Contemplation (& Eco-Consciousness)

The Farrow & Ball installation, designed with Tableau, in the Villa Copenhagen atrium.

Farrow & Ball partnered with local multidisciplinary studio Tableau on an installation in Villa Copenhagen's atrium. Painted entirely in shades from the company’s latest collection, the interactive pavilion showcased how to blend deeply matte and ultra-reflective finishes using a series of outsized organic forms. It vaguely called to mind the sets of Squid Game, though the space was meant to foster creativity and connection rather than, well, desperation and violence. That's the power of color for you.

Elsewhere in town, plaster and paint company St. Leo celebrated the launch of their new Bio Paint collection, featuring colors developed in collaboration with The Apartment founder Tina Seidenfaden Busck, in an exhibition that explored the beauty and dynamism of mineral-based hues through color, art, and vintage pieces. St. Leo also worked with Svenkst Tenn on a pop-up space in the same building, outfitting walls in the Swedish brand's signature sunny hues in environmentally-conscious formulations.
