New & Noteworthy: July Trend Advisor edition

2024.07.16

Momentum Textiles & Wallcoverings has teamed up with the acclaimed British-Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori to create an exuberant and colorful line of commercial textiles and wallcoverings. The collection features lively prints and patterns in a spectrum of vibrant colors, designed to captive and evoke joy. Such collaborations highlight the growing need for and importance of dopamine-fueled design. These textiles and wallcoverings are the perfect example of design that uplifts and inspires! – Kristen Moonjian, FS (Fashion Snoops)

Sometimes, the way an upholstered piece is constructed gives the impression that it is ready to give you a big hug. This approach has been especially apparent since the end of the pandemic, when so many consumers found themselves in need of comfort, and it continues today. A gently curved backrest on the oversized Calin XL armchair, new from Porada, cradles loose bac and side cushions. It creates a stylish, mixed-media cocoon that’s perfect for any contemporary setting. For the ultimate in comfort, order it with a swivel base. – Michelle Lamb, The Trend Curve

While I was exploring the Dallas Market, I came across these paper accent flowers and butterflies in the Burton & Burton showroom. Made from a paper-based material, these products are a creative way to decorate for Spring/Easter by bringing the outdoors inside. The palette consists of coral, turquoise, lavender, yellow and peach, showcasing an ombre accent throughout. – Nancy Fire, Nancy Fire Designs

While Copenhagen 101 named this Cobra vase series in tribute of the Cobra Arts Movement of the 1960’s, the pieces offer so much more than any mere vessels. In bone white, the hand case and glazed ceramic pieces have a sculptural quality that is indefinably timeless. Each piece seems to nod to the human silhouette like a Minimalist interpretation of pre-Colombian forms. – Tim Mirabile, Springboard Futures

An ‘Art de Vivre a la Francais’ event in New York this spring showcased 12 French companies with products that ranged from lighting to occasional furniture and included textiles, tabletop, bath gifts and fragrance. Reminiscent Home is a three-year-old brand of Limoges porcelain tabletop, accessories and lighting designed by Geraldine Delettre. I was captivated by her ‘Blue Present Collection’ with a flowing ribbon pattern inspired by the Khata, offered in Tibet as a sign of gratitude, this motif of interlacing ribbons flying freely in the wind is so full of character and color. – Patti Carpenter, Carpenter + Company
