Varied looks mark Urban Outfitters five new fall collections

PHILADELPHIA – Lifestyle retailer Urban Outfitters has unveiled five new furniture collections that draw from influences as varied as bohemian, mid-century, modern and Scandinavian. With more than 80 new pieces ranging in size and scale, the assortment includes a variety of beds, vanities, armoires, dining tables, sofas, storage solutions and chairs.

The new Mikko Rattan collection offers bohemian and eclectic pieces, using rattan and gently curved lines paired with a modern metal bed frame and other accents. Key pieces include the Mikko bed, which features an iron and wrapped rattan frame with curved edges at the head and foot, linear accents and a slatted base; retail is $799 for a queen. Also, the Mikko settee sofa, with rounded rattan frame features and concentric detailing. The sofa is set on a metal base with upholstered cushions at the seat and back, and it retails for $699.

The Huxley Mid-Century Modern collection offers smooth lines, warm wooden finish and hidden storage tables. The Huxley makes a big impact with small-space furniture such as the six-drawer dresser, retailing for $800, that is made from rubberwood; features three rows of two drawers, all equipped with metal glides and waved built-in pulls; and finished with round, tapering legs. A vintage-romantic bedroom set is the featured piece for the Virginia Carved Wood collection, with carved mango wood details, solid metal pulls and feminine lines. The collection’s bed frame, nightstand and other pieces come in either a white or natural finish. The bed frame, which retails for $799 for a queen, is a wooden platform bed set on slim legs. The vanity, which retails for $479, has a two-drawer construction, wooden channel glides and a tri-fold mirror with wavy shaping.

A modern, Scandinavian-inspired light wood look defines the Lita Slatted collection which features clean lines, draped upholstery and simple, slatted designs. The Lita storage cabinet retails for $899 and includes dual doors that hinge open to reveal a top hanging rod and trio of adjustable, removable shelves. The Lita kitchen cart offers dual shelves for storing cocktail items, entertaining essentials and cookbooks with an angular mindi wood frame and a top handle along with two wheels at the base and two legs for standing sturdy. The cart contains a rattan woven panel at the base shelf and raised edges at the top shelf.

The Aria Curved Metal collection offers an understated silhouette and white metal framework. The Aria metal bed retails for $599 for a queen and includes tubular features, along with curved shaping and inset design details set on thin legs with a slatted bar base. The Aria Metal Vinyl storage rack, which retails for $110, allows for display of a curated record collection with its metal curved edges and shaped detailing along with bracket dividers on the base and a glass tabletop for holding a record player.
