Décor hashtags – top 3 are modern, farmhouse and rustic

According to Instagram, users tagged modern designs 5.7 million times so far this year; while farmhouse designs appeared in 4.7 million posts and Instagram users named rustic designs in 4.5 million posts.

The research from Cinch Home Services analyzed and ranked millions of décor hashtags.

“Social media has become the primary source of inspiration for many homeowners planning renovations or décor changes. The strong performance of modern and farmhouse styles shows Americans gravitate toward clean designs that photograph well,” said a Cinch Home spokesperson.

Ranking sixth through tenth are boho home, shabby chic décor, modern interior, eclectic décor and modern décor. The company said that according to these numbers, modern style clearly rules Instagram by an enormous margin.

Analysts at Cinch Home Services calculated and ranked the most Instagrammable home décor styles. The team then used Decorilla for a seed list of popular interior design styles which were manually extended. The analysts checked each hashtag on Instagram for the number of posts that contained it. The hashtag with the most posts was deemed as the style’s representative hashtag. The décor styles were ranked from highest to lowest based on their post counts.
