Pantone's 2013 Color Trends for Home Furnishings and Interior Design

Pantone LLC, an X-Rite company and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, has released PANTONE? VIEW home + interiors 2013, a trend forecast book containing nine key color and design themes for home furnishings and interior design in 2013. The nine palettes in the 2013 color forecasting book include Connoisseur, Glamour, New Old School, Rugged Individuals, Extracts, Footprints, Sojourn, Surface Treatments and Out of the Ordinary.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said colors for 2013 will need to coax and cajole, soothe or astonish, renew and replenish.”
Eiseman also noted that in addition to colors needing to soothe and renew, at the same time, there will be the consumer’s expectation of practicality―what colors will have staying power and can be relied upon as a steadying influence in unsteady times. "Skillfully balanced color palettes that play to their practical side, while satisfying their aspirations, hopes and needs for something novel will remain key to enticing the would-be consumer or client,” she says.
Of the nine palettes, Connoisseur, draws on cool neutrals like alyssum white and beechnut green, contrasted with warmer tones of violets, orchids, liquid pink, and deep mahogany set against neutral accents of champagne beige and silver.
