Home Accents Today’s Retail Stars list, in its 15th year, recognizes independent brick-and-mortar retailers of home accents – including furniture stores, home accessories boutique stores and interior design showrooms – that merchandise creatively, have a positive presence in their local communities and stand out from the competition.

What sets you apart from others in your market?
 


“We are a lifestyle boutique with focus on home and fashion accents. We feel as though we are not a ‘stuffy’ furniture store but more of a high energy fun furniture boutique. We do not have commission-based salespeople and so our customers genuinely feel that we are just trying to help them rather than sell them pieces they don’t want or need.”

What is the best retail idea you have ever implemented that helped improve your sales/profits?
 


”It was by accident as far as expecting it to increase sales, but we did a giving back campaign where we did a room makeover for a family that had just adopted two kids and the response from that drove our sales up significantly for the month. We obviously just wanted to help out someone in the community but we had tons of people coming in saying they saw it on social media.”
